I am the director of the low-residency MFA in Narrative Nonfiction and the Charlayne Hunter-Galt Distinguished Writer in Residence at the University of Georgia.

I also teach undergraduate/graduate classes in narrative nonfiction and crisis reporting at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Read my UGA profile.

University of Florida

I taught at the University of Florida from 2018 to 2022 and was the Michael and Linda Connelly Lecturer in Narrative Nonfiction. I taught advanced reporting and writing courses as well as a class on conflict journalism. I launched Atrium, a literary magazine produced by my students. In 2020, I was named UF’s Undergraduate Teacher of the Year.
